【September China Primary Aluminum Output Preliminary Value: 3.5819 Million Tons, Up 1.49% Year-on-Year】
According to Mysteel's comprehensive survey of Chinese primary aluminum producers, the preliminary estimate for China’s primary aluminum output in September 2024 is 3.5819 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.49% but a month-on-month decrease of 2.85%. The average daily output for September was 119,400 tons, up 400 tons/day from the previous month (with 30 production days). The aluminum plants in Sichuan and Guizhou have completed technical upgrades and resumed production. Future attention will focus on the production progress of capacity transfers in Xinjiang, while other regions maintain relatively stable operations. In September 2024, China's metallurgical-grade alumina installed capacity was 104.2 million tons/year, with an operating capacity of 85 million tons/year, a year-on-year decrease of 1.28% and a month-on-month increase of 3.16%. Production was 6.874 million tons, down 1.81% year-on-year and 0.39% month-on-month.

On October 1, 2024, Zhang Ming, Deputy General Manager of the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), announced at the 2024 China Non-Ferrous Metals Report Conference that SHFE is building a high-quality product system to strengthen the resilience and security of the non-ferrous metal supply chain and to promote green and low-carbon development. After launching the world's first physically settled alumina futures contract last year, SHFE is now actively promoting the development of aluminum alloy futures to further enhance risk management tools in the aluminum industry chain and support the global aluminum industry's low-carbon transition. Additionally, SHFE has revised contract standards for lead and aluminum products this year and will continue researching green standards for the recycled lead and aluminum industries in line with national green and low-carbon policies.

【U.S. Makes Final Ruling on Aluminum Extrusions Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Investigations】
The U.S. Department of Commerce announced the final results of its anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations on Chinese aluminum extrusions. Thirty-two Chinese companies that participated in the case face an anti-dumping duty rate of 4.25%, but the actual deposit rate is zero. Non-cooperative companies face a punitive duty rate of 376.85%. In the countervailing investigation, the mandatory respondent Zhejiang Sanhua Micro Channel Heat Exchanger Co., Ltd. received a countervailing duty rate of 14.56%, while non-cooperative companies face a punitive rate of 168.81%. Other Chinese companies are subject to a 14.56% duty rate.
